Senior Cybersecurity R&D Scientist

This is a research and development position concerned with exploring and exploiting mathematical, algorithmic, and technological solutions to fields such as cybersecurity, theoretical and applied cryptography, data science, and their quantum extensions. The ideal candidate will undertake research with the aid and direction of Dr. Araujo but must essentially have the intellectual tenacity to master complex subjects independently.

DUTIES:

  • Innovate and prototype novel schemes for encoding and encrypting information according to specified security and functional requirements.
  • Read and write formal mathematical documents and prepare papers to be published by, and presented to, academic and industry conferences.
  • Create mathematical models for solving problems related to cybersecurity. Design mathematical defenses for designated attacks.
  • Create mathematical models for both general-purpose and application-specific methods for data representation, such as data encoding (compression).
  • Supervise the development of core libraries and user interfaces. Develop and present materials to prospective clients.
  • Implement fully functional web demos. Interact routinely with the academic community in Cybersecurity.
  • Manage projects and teams of researchers and developers targeting the delivery of cybersecurity and data science-related solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D. Degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Skills or Educational Exposure to the Following Concepts: Programming experience in languages such as C/C++, Python, Ruby, PHP, Javascript, SQL DSL and MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Cryptography, secure computation, homomorphic encryption. Project Management.
  • Basic to advanced mathematical concepts including Group Theory, Linear Algebra, various branches of Abstract Algebra (such as Exterior algebras and Clifford Geometric algebra), Quantum computing.
  • Current industry developments and practices relating to Cybersecurity and Data science.

Research Engineer

DUTIES:

  • Continue the development of a proprietary integer-based Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and Echo State Machine (ESN) for Reservoir Computing using C++ and Python.
  • Combine the ESN with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and a Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and develop methodologies for temporal and spatial Machine Learning.
  • Optimize the training and classification efficiency and accuracy of the algorithm and compare it to other industry solutions.
  • Work to develop this algorithm for application to limited compute environments such as an Arm microcontroller, by testing with Arm Forge tool.
  • Direct development toward industry demands for Machine Learning such as facial recognition and keyword spotting on ARM based MCU.
  • Evaluate extensions of this algorithm to quantum computing using a capacitively coupled Josephson junction to generate Q-bits and a proprietary approach to the combination of classical and quantum computing.
  • Developing naive concepts for combing the two fields machine learning and Quantum computing.
  • Develop a quantum circuit initiated by the qubits that carry the information of the encrypted data.
  • Incorporate the quantum hard problems selected for encryption.
  • Plan research projects and report progress routinely to management.
  • Make conclusions and recommendations based on research data.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Skills or educational exposure to the following concepts: embedded C/C++/Python languages.
  • ARM micro controllers. Advanced mathematical concepts including Clifford or Geometric algebra, quantum mechanics and physics.
  • Current industry developments and practices relating to machine learning on micro Controllers and quantum computing.
